Doctor’s Quick Thinking Saves Patients

Dr. Stephanie Barnhart, inside Moore Medical Center’s Emergency Center had been monitoring the weather reports all afternoon. The first emergency alert went off after 3pm and the second alert notified the staff that the tornado touched down. Barnhart and her staff immediately took action in Oklahoma.
Doctors quickly moved patients to a clinic located in the center of the hospital. They used mattresses and blankets to cover themselves to prevent head injuries. The tornado was two miles away from their location, then the power went out . It ripped through the second floor of the hospital, cars were upside down, and lampposts were everywhere.
“It’s pretty amazing that we even walked out alive,” Barnhart told CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
